Privacy Policy

The short version

We do not ask you to create an account, we do not sell data, and the only personal information we ever hold is whatever you type into the contact form. Analytics and affiliate links are the two places third parties are involved, and both are described below.

Who we are

Information you give us

The contact form. If you send us a message we receive your name, your email address, the subject you selected and what you wrote. We use it to reply to you and nothing else. We do not add you to a mailing list, and we do not share it.

The form includes basic anti-spam measures: a hidden field that automated scripts fill in and people do not, a check on how long the form was open before submission, and a limit on submissions from one network address per hour. These look at how the form was submitted rather than at who you are.

Information collected automatically

Analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand which pages are read and how people arrive. It sets cookies and collects standard information such as pages viewed, approximate location derived from your network address, and your device and browser type. We use it in aggregate; we do not attempt to identify individuals.

We also record when someone clicks a product link, as an aggregate count. That tells us which recommendations people find useful. It is not tied to an identity.

Hosting. The site is served by a hosting provider that keeps standard server logs, including network addresses and requested pages, for security and operational purposes.

Affiliate links

Product links on this site are affiliate links. When you click one you are taken to the retailer with a tag identifying us as the referrer. The retailer — principally Amazon — may then set cookies and process your data under their own privacy policy, which governs everything that happens once you leave this site. We receive no personal information about you from them, only aggregate reports about purchases attributed to us.

Cookies

Cookies on this site come from analytics and, once you click through, from retailers. Mat & Blade sets no advertising cookies of its own and runs no ad network.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and browser-level tracking protection works normally here. Nothing on the site breaks if you do — no feature depends on a cookie.

What we never do

• Sell or rent your personal information
• Run advertising networks or behavioral ad targeting of our own
• Require an account to read anything
• Add contact form senders to a mailing list
• Knowingly collect information from children under 13

How long we keep things

Contact form messages are kept while the conversation is useful and then deleted. Analytics data is retained according to the analytics provider's standard retention settings.

Your rights

Depending on where you live you may have the right to request a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to particular processing. In practice, the only personal information we are likely to hold is a contact form message.

To make a request, email contact@matandblade.com. For analytics data, your browser's tracking controls and the analytics provider's own opt-out mechanisms apply.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes materially we will update the date at the bottom of this page. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the revised policy.
